Three Dayton-area men were arrested this week for possession of more than a pound of methamphetamine and several grams of fentanyl.

Washington County Sheriff's Office deputies conducted a traffic stop Monday on a Texas-registered Toyota Corolla in Devola, near the intersection of Glendale Road and State Route 821, for a traffic violation of the road at the Interstate 77 off-ramp, during which they discovered just over a pound (457.84 grams) of methamphetamine and 57.70 grams of suspected fentanyl, according to a press release from the sheriff's office.

According to the release, officers approached the vehicle and questioned the three men in it about their travels and learned from the driver, William Lamarr Lawson, 32, Dayton, Ohio, that the men were traveling to Cleveland from Dayton and had must have taken a wrong path. turn. The release states that during the conversation, the men denied having anything illegal inside the vehicle, then a canine officer was deployed, who conducted a free air sniff and indicated on the passenger side of the vehicle.

Officers removed the men from the vehicle and searched it and found a large bag of suspected methamphetamine on the rear floorboard and a cellophane bag in the front passenger area that appeared to contain fentanyl, the release states.

Deputies arrested Lawon, Anthony Duan Downey Jr., 27, Dayton, Ohio, and KeAngelis Dai'Trell Render, 26, Trotwood, Ohio, as a result of the investigation, according to the release.

According to the release, Lawson was charged with one first-degree felony count of possession of fentanyl, one first-degree felony count of aggravated drug trafficking and one of first degree felony drug trafficking.

Downey was charged with two counts of first-degree felony drug trafficking and two counts of first-degree felony drug possession.

Render was charged with one first-degree felony count of aggravated drug possession, one first-degree felony count of aggravated drug trafficking, one felony count of aggravated drug trafficking, first-degree possession of fentanyl and one first-degree felony count of drug trafficking.

The release said the men were transported to the Washington County Jail to await arraignment in Marietta Municipal Court.

According to municipal court records, the three men were arraigned Tuesday morning and the release said their bond was set at $500,000 each.
