Three criminals arrested on drug charges during Asheville police efforts

Asheville Police detectives arrested three felons on drug charges during proactive enforcement on Thursday, June 6.

Detectives arrested Darion Armon Smith24-year-old, who was wanted for federal probation violations, and took him into custody near the 100 block of Atkinson Street at 3:44 p.m. Thursday.

At the same time, detectives arrested both Otis Anthony Edgerton Jr.27 years, for possession of a firearm by a felon, and Ronald Winslow Mackey Jr., 44, for drug possession. Both individuals were taken into custody without incident.

Detectives seized a total of 24 dosage units of MDMA at the scene.

Smith was charged with a federal probation violation and was held in the Buncombe County Detention Center without bail because he is ineligible for release due to his probation violation.

Edgerton was charged with possession of a firearm by a felon and was also incarcerated in the Buncombe County Detention Center without bail, as he is also ineligible for release due to criminal offence. federal indictment.

Mackey was charged with possession with intent to sell or deliver Schedule I substances and possession with intent to sell or deliver controlled substances within 1,000 feet of a school. Due to the Pretrial Integrity Act, Mackey is subject to no bond and is not eligible for release. He was booked into the Buncombe County Detention Center.
