Three Boston teens arrested for pepper spraying outside mall

Three teenage girls were arrested in Boston after allegedly attacking and pepper-spraying a girl.

Boston police responded to reports of an assault outside Boston's famous Prudential Center. The victim of the alleged assault said she was kicked and punched by three teenage girls. They were also pepper sprayed and their cellphones were stolen.




According to their official report, officers searched the area and found the group of girls at 171 Saint Botolph Street. They wrote that they “observed one of the juveniles attempting to throw a purple can of OC spray under a motor vehicle.”

They discovered that the three girls were aged 13, 14 and 16. All three face serious charges. The suspects, aged 13 and 16, face charges of armed robbery and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon. The 14-year-old suspect faces juvenile charges of receiving stolen property and battery with a dangerous weapon.

According to state law, Massachusetts citizens may carry pepper spray for the purposes of personal protection and self-defense. However, it is a crime to use pepper spray to commit or perpetrate a crime.

The victim was transported to a nearby hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. All three teens are expected to be arraigned in Boston Juvenile Court.
