OAKLAND — A fire that broke out Wednesday evening ravaged a West Oakland warehouse, firefighters said.

About 70 firefighters were on scene battling the three-alarm fire that broke out around 10:15 p.m. in the 1700 block of 24th Street, according to a social media post from the Fire Department. 'Oakland.

The fire caused the roof of the building to collapse. No injuries were reported.

Fire crews stopped the fire from spreading from the roofing supply company's main building to its backyard, firefighters said. Other nearby buildings were not damaged.

Firefighters had the fire under control in about two hours, but were still working to completely extinguish it Thursday morning. Crews remained on scene after sunrise to monitor hot spots and prevent the fire from reigniting.

Smoke from the fire remained thick Thursday morning and firefighters recommended anyone living in the area keep their windows closed.
