Curfew for teenagers is back in effect

As we enter the summer season here on the Jersey Shore, one town in Ocean County has reinstated its “curfew.” This will only affect some Toms River Township.

According to a recent Patch article, “The Toms River Police Department has reinstated its under-18 curfew in the city's barrier island communities. The curfew is in effect through Labor Day in Ortley Beach and the northern beaches Minors aged 17 and under are not allowed to go out on the streets without an adult from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m., police said.

There are some exceptions to the curfew, including:

  • Religious events
  • Work
  • Educational events
  • Private functions
  • Parental shopping
