Third and final suspect in 2018 drug shooting arrested for murder in Clarksville

CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – The third and final suspect was arrested in connection with a drug deal turned shooting in June 2018 that resulted in the death of a Clarksville man.

Terrance Sharell Taylor, 26, was arrested May 16 on charges of first-degree murder and robbery in the death of 30-year-old James Wells.

Police detectives determined the fatal shooting occurred during a drug transaction. On June 5, 2018, the suspects met Wells in the parking lot of The Verge on Nolen Road. The suspects fought with Wells, robbed him of heroin and money and shot him in the back, according to the indictment and previous reports.

Clarksville police previously arrested 27-year-old Shundarion Dayqwhon Taylor and 31-year-old Kylando Catwan Mason. They were indicted by the June 2023 session of the Montgomery County grand jury on charges of murder and robbery.

Wells was found by police with gunshot wounds inside a vehicle. It was transported by ambulance to Tennova Healthcare-Clarksville and died of his injuries.

Police later found a handgun at Shundarion Dayqwhon Taylor's home with an empty shell casing in the gun's chamber, according to previous reports.
