'Thief shot with frying pan': Watch how homeowner fights suspected burglary

A Jason Williams, Chicago owner foiled one attempted burglary Thursday by confronting the intruder with a frying pan. The dramatic encounter was captured on security camera footagewhich showed Williams chasing the suspect out of his Logan Square residence around 3:30 p.m.
He had received an alert from his alarm system on his way home from work, prompting him to take action.Upon entering his house, Williams grabbed a frying pan and encountered the burglar as he came down the stairs.
Although shaken by the incident, Williams told ABC7, “At that point, it was fight or flight, and I would rather fight.”

When Chicago police arrived on scene, Williams chased the suspect out of his house and into the yard, ultimately leading to the suspect's arrest by officers across the street. Williams acknowledged the potential risks of his actions, saying: “This could have had a different ending, and I'm glad it was a good one. My wife is not happy with the decision I made… probably wouldn't do it again, but that's how it is.”
Police confirmed a 33-year-old man entered the home in the 3400 block of West Parker before getting into a fight with the 45-year-old homeowner. The video footage clearly showed the homeowner hitting the intruder with a frying pan during the altercation.
The suspect was taken to the Illinois Masonic Medical Center in good condition, while the homeowner refused medical treatment.
