The Sheriff's Office is seeking to return more than 100 items stolen from the Okeechobee Co. Cemetery.

Statues, headstones and more have been stolen from an Okeechobee cemetery. Now, the authorities want to make sure that all these lost items find their place.

The Okeechobee County Sheriff's Office is asking anyone who has noticed items missing from a loved one's grave to contact us and file an arrest report. Deputies have compiled a list of more than 100 items, which also includes photos and memorabilia, and will check to see if they have recovered the stolen property.

According to the sheriff's office, its investigation into the first reported theft led officers to a campsite where they found the stolen items, most of which were believed to have come from Evergreen Cemetery.

A person, whose name has not been released, was taken into custody and investigators believe he is responsible for several thefts.

Anyone needing to report a theft can contact the sheriff's office at 863-763-3117. If it turns out that an item has been stolen, the authorities will also offer the opportunity to file a complaint.

The post noted that flower arrangements and items maintained by staff were not part of its investigation.
