The search continues for a Maryland man missing near the Arizona-Utah border.

SALT LAKE CITY (ABC4) — In early January 2024, authorities in Arizona located the car of a man who was last seen in Maryland in late December 2023. The search continued through June 2024.

Braonain Dakota McGinnis, 24, was last seen on December 21, 2023 in Anne Arundel County, Maryland. Her car was found by the Arizona Department of Public Safety on Jan. 3, 2024, in Page, Ariz., near 89A — and officials said it appears her car had been there since Dec. 30, 2023 .

McGinnis is reported to be approximately 5'11″, weigh approximately 180 pounds, and have brown eyes and brown hair. He was last known to have had a full beard and was wearing a blue hoodie, blue jeans, and Black Vans.

The officials with the Coconino County Arizona Sheriff's Office said Braonain was able to travel on foot and that authorities had no known destination he was trying to go to.

A Facebook page dedicated to the search for Braonain posted that there had been no new updates on his whereabouts as of June 14, but that people were going out and looking for areas where he might be.

What to do when talking to law enforcement about a missing person

More than 600,000 people disappear each year in the United States, according to the National Missing and Unidentified Persons System.

Here are some suggestions to keep in mind if someone you know disappears.

Utah officials suggest taking notes on interactions with law enforcement to keep track of details such as officers' names, dates and times of interactions, case number and what the officers say. agents.

When working with local law enforcement to report a missing person, it is recommended that you share as much information about the missing person as possible, including but not limited to:

  • Full name or nicknames.
  • Recent photos.
  • Date of birth and age at the time of their disappearance.
  • Gender/sex.
  • Detailed physical description (including any unique scars or tattoos).
  • Date of disappearance.
  • Medical conditions.
  • Last known location.
  • Social media accounts.
