The Roanoke City Sheriff's Office and Advance Auto Parts work together to promote traffic safety

ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) – The Roanoke City Sheriff's Office and Advance Auto Part announced a partnership launching a program, “Advancing our Roads,” designed to increase road safety for local drivers, on Friday, June 21.

During Friday's announcement, members of Advance Auto Parts management presented Sheriff Antonio Hash and the Sheriff's Office with a gift card donation totaling more than $1,500. The gift cars will be used during traffic stops for equipment violations such as a non-functioning headlight or taillight. The deputy can give the driver a $25 gift card to help pay for a vehicle repair at Advance Auto Part.

Roanoke City Sheriff Antonio Hash says he pursued this partnership with Advance Auto because of their deep ties to the community. He hopes this initiative will further help create a positive relationship between law enforcement and Roanoke residents.

“When you see our citizens going around the community, they're already scared,” Sheriff Hash told WFXR News. “It helps us change the narrative and continue to create those relationships with our citizens in the community.” »

Drivers who receive gift cards can use them at any Advance Auto store in Roanoke or online.
