The recent Iranian presidential helicopter crash was so severe that the shape of the occupants could not be identified, and it was reported that they were identified by their personal belongings.

On the 25th (local time), the New York Times (NYT) specifically reported the search process that continued in mountainous terrain in bad weather after the accident on the 19th (local time).

President Ebrahim Raisi was killed along with other passengers, including Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, when a helicopter on board crashed in a mountainous area after attending the dam's completion ceremony in Bharzgan, East Azerbaijan province, on the 19th.

Iranian authorities launched a search in the mountainous terrain amid bad weather and found President Raisi near the remains of a helicopter 17 hours after conducting a massive search with rescue teams and drones (drones).

After the helicopter crashed, Iranian rescue services struggled to identify all the passengers because it was difficult to identify themselves due to the fire.

Authorities reportedly identified President Raisi with a ring and Minister Amir Abdolahian with a watch.

The Iranian Army General Staff said in a report released on the 23rd that no suspicious signs, such as bullets, were found in the crashed helicopter.

The staff explained that the helicopter was flying on the planned route before the accident, and it was confirmed that there was no deviation from the route before the accident.

Concerning the accident, the international community also notes that Iranian planes are excessively aging due to Western sanctions, particularly American ones.
