The Next Chapter' – Ashley's Reality Summary

Another outstanding parenting performance from Amber “Couch Queen” Portwood…

Amber Portwoodthe behavior of on the last episode of Teen Mom: The Next Chapter is criticized not only by viewers of the show, but also by some of those who star in it.

As you may know, Thursday's episode featured an anniversary dinner for Amber and her ex. Gary Shirleythe 15 year old girl, Horrible, to which Amber arrived extremely late. After finally making her grand entrance, Amber joined Gary's wife Leah. Kristineand the couple's daughter at the table, where things went downhill.

Amber, reading her comments on social media after Thursday's episode. (Probably.)

At one point, Amber asked Leah if she was aware that she would need her mother “more than ever” now that she is 15, because she is “about to go really crazy” – a comment which Leah apparently ignored. Amber then decided to talk about her new boyfriend (and now, fiancé) Gary (aka Gary 2.0) and even pressure the birthday girl to look at a photo of her new beau.

When a visibly amused Leah chose not to make fun of her mother's latest couch companion, Amber took immediate offense. Unfortunately, that didn't stop him from continuing to embarrass himself Or to admit to Leah that she wants to have a third child. After seemingly failing to get the reaction she was hoping for from Leah, Amber kept the very unfortunate birthday BS coming.

“By the way, I didn’t bother to give you a gift… my presence is your gift.”

“What the fuck are you talking about?” Amber asked Leah, who told her mother that she didn't say anything about her new boyfriend.

“That’s the point,” Amber replied. “She’s the one who’s crazy. See, you make me want to swear.

The birthday dinner ended with a few more comments from Amber and a tense argument between Amber and Gary (Leah's father) that left Leah in tears.

Ahead of Thursday's episode, Amber's partner Briana DeJesus let fans know that she took issue with the way Amber spoke to her daughter and encouraged her to “do better.”

“I know I'm probably going to get dragged or get a phone call, but after watching a certain scene…I can't stand criticizing your kids or even insulting them. Do better!” Briana posted on X, later confirming she was referring to Amber.

Briana's (first) baby daddy, Devoin Austinalso hinted at his thoughts on the scene, commenting on a sideways photo on a clip from the birthday dinner posted to Instagram. Even Jenelle Evans— who, quite honestly, should have let this one go — co-signed Briana's comments from the scene.

“Girrrrrl I just watched ,” she replied to Briana's tweet (since deleted).

Ancient Teen Mom: Young and Pregnant star Rachel Castor also discussed Amber's antics from Thursday's episode, particularly the moment when Amber insisted that Leah “needs her.”

“…She was never really there for Leah and when she comes back she seems to make things about her instead of trying to talk and get to know Leah,” Rachel wrote. “Then she directly calls this kid who is already hurt about not having a mother an ‘asshole’ because he’s not interested in his boyfriend?

“If anything she already has [Kristina] who is there for her during those teenage years because Amber is almost never there,” she continued. “If I was Gary I would have lost him, so I understand his frustration. Honestly, poor Leah, she put so much effort into having a relationship with Amber and opening up just to have Amber act like this.

Amber has not commented on the backlash she received after Thursday's episode. Oh, but she did would have confirmed that she is engaged… so there is THAT.
