The Ministry of Justice begins the execution of the pardon decree [PHOTOS]

The Prison Service of the Ministry of Justice has started implementing President Ilham Aliyev's order “on pardoning a group of convicts”, signed on May 25. Azernews
reports.

The execution of the Order is carried out in penitentiary establishments and the Probation Service, subordinate to the Prison Service. Authorized employees of the Ministry of Justice and the Prison Service, arriving at the penal institutions where convicts are detained, ensure the execution of the Order in a timely manner and at a high level.

Persons pardoned by the President are released from penitentiary establishments subordinate to the prison service.

Department of Justice officials provide pardoned individuals with release documents.

According to the order of the Head of State, 154 convicts were pardoned, among which 63 people sentenced to prison terms were released from the unserved part of their sentence, 52 convicts had their sentences reduced by half.

A person sentenced to imprisonment, whose sentence was suspended, has been released from his sentence.

In total, 28 people sentenced to restriction of liberty were released from the unserved part of their sentence, and for three people, the length of their sentence was reduced by half.

Two people sentenced to correctional labor were released from the unserved part of their sentences, four people sentenced to fines were released from sentences. The criminal record of a convict who was sentenced to imprisonment and served his sentence has been expunged.

Among those pardoned are foreign citizens and women. Thus, according to the order, 8 foreign citizens were pardoned. Among them, five are Afghan citizens, two Turkish citizens and one Russian citizen.
