The Leon County Sheriff's Office closes part of Capital Circle SW in both directions after a motorcyclist was killed in a crash Monday

LEON COUNTY, Fla. (WCTV) – A motorcyclist died Monday night after his motorcycle collided with a car, according to the Leon County Sheriff's Office.

The crash happened around 6:15 p.m. near the intersection of Capital Circle Southwest and Southern Street, a few blocks west of the intersection of Capital Circle and Crawfordville Road. Capital Circle SW is closed in both directions between Tillie Lane and Center Drive as of 9:30 p.m., according to LCSO spokeswoman Shonda Knight.

The sheriff's office is urging drivers to take alternate routes while they investigate the collision.

The driver of the car was injured in the crash but is expected to survive, Knight said. LCSO could not immediately provide details on the ages of the two motorists. Sheriff's Office personnel said they are working to notify the motorcyclist's next of kin.

The Florida Highway Patrol is also at the scene of the crash to assist with the investigation, according to a sheriff's office spokesman.
