The Kyle Police Department, Hays County Sheriff's Office, assists the Mustang Ridge Police Department in a vehicle and foot chase

KYLE — At approximately 1:30 p.m. on Friday, June 14, the Mustang Ridge Police Department responded to a call of reckless driving on SH-130. Officers located the vehicle at the intersection of SH-130 and SH-21 streets and observed the vehicle committing numerous violations.

Officers attempted a traffic stop and the vehicle veered westbound on SH-21. During the pursuit, the vehicle intentionally struck our officer's vehicle several times, according to Mustang Ridge Police. The vehicle eventually stopped in a residential area on Ranch Road 150 in Kyle and the driver fled on foot, passing through several residences.

The Texas Department of Public Safety air support helicopter was able to track the suspect's movements the entire time. With the assistance of the Travis County Police Department, Kyle Police Department, Hays County Sheriff's Office, Hays County Police Department and several local citizens, the suspect was placed in police custody.

A large quantity of controlled substances was found in the suspect's possession and in the vehicle. The suspect was charged with the following:

  • Assault with a deadly weapon against a peace officer
  • Escaping arrest/detention with a vehicle
  • Escaping arrest/detention on foot
  • Possession of controlled substance
  • Tampering with physical evidence
  • Criminal mischief

The suspect was booked into the Hays County Jail.

“We are grateful for the immediate response from outside agencies who assisted and for the citizens who responded to assist officers on scene,” Mustang Ridge Police said.
