The Chiefs' new weapon takes a deserved shot at one of the NFL's worst teams

Third time's the charm, right? That should be the case for veteran wide receiver Hollywood Brown, now on his third NFL team. The former Oklahoma star was drafted by the Baltimore Ravens out of college, only to be traded to the Arizona Cardinals two offseasons ago. Now with the Kansas City Chiefs, he has no excuse not to play like a No. 1 wide receiver. It must be.

We all saw the talent coming out of OU. He was a favorite receiving target for Kyler Murray and Baker Mayfield before that in Norman. As fate would have it, Brown caught Murray's passes in Arizona the last two years. Unfortunately, he didn't have the nicest things to say about his former employer. Brown felt he was underutilized as something of an offensive weapon while playing for the Cardinals.

Brown expressed how positive the changes are for him now that he's a part of the Chiefs' offense.

“They let me play. They let me be a weapon. I'm not stuck in this room or that room. They let me be a weapon for the offense.”

Clearly, the Chiefs believe Brown could be a scaled-down version of what they once had in Tyreek Hill.

Kansas City has a ton of weapons in its receiving corps, but you have to wonder how the pieces will fit together.

To me, there are some interesting circumstances that align with how Brown feels about the Chiefs offense, how he feels about the Cardinals offense, and why his NFL career isn't t wasn't as impressive as his college career. The first is drafted by Baltimore. It's a well-run organization, but one that never seems to deliver great passing games. A lot of that goes to Lamar Jackson…

Yes, there may have been a lot of pressure to reunite Murray in the Valley of the Sun, but the bottom line is that the Cardinals have been very chaotic in recent years. Brown joined the team in the final season of Kliff Kingsbury's tenure as head coach. While last year showed signs of life for this franchise, Jonathan Gannon was a first-time head coach, and a defensive-minded one at that.

Simply put, Brown will be joining a team led by one of the best players in NFL history, Andy Reid. Although the receiving corps doesn't have a traditional No. 1, the Chiefs still have Patrick Mahomes throwing the ball to him, as well as Travis Kelce catching passes as a Hall of Fame tight end. Brown will have a lot to do, but he won't be starved of opportunities in this offense.

If the Chiefs want to win the three-time Super Bowl championship, Brown will need to step up.

Following. Hall of Fame omissions. Biggest omission from every NFL team's Hall of Fame. dark
