THC, methamphetamine and weapon seized after car and foot chase | KWKT

Waco, Texas (FOX44) – A 17-year-old was in custody Wednesday on multiple criminal charges after a vehicle and foot chase Tuesday led to the seizure of THC, marijuana, methamphetamine, a weapon and ammunition.

Jacob Issac Garcia remained in the McLennan County Jail Wednesday on bond on the criminal charges totaling $32,000, but he was being held without bail by the Texas Department of Juvenile Justice.

An arrest affidavit says the chase began around 9:30 a.m. Tuesday morning when a Waco police officer spotted a black Nissan Sentra in the 1300 block of Frank.in Avenue going 44 mph in an area 30 miles per hour. The affidavit said the officer conducted a traffic stop at that location, with the vehicle continuing to drive while the officer initially believed the driver was looking for a place to pull over. But the officer said it became apparent the driver was not stopping after passing several possible locations. The officer activated his siren as the driver continued. The officer noticed the driver putting on a backpack while driving.

When the pursuit reached 4th Street and Franklin Avenue, the driver stopped, jumped out and ran north on 4th Street. The officer chased him on foot and lost him, but other officers were able to locate and arrest him.

The affidavit said he still had the backpack that officers searched. The affidavit said inside they found marijuana, THC cartridges, a scale, bags and a Glock 19 handgun with a 40-round magazine. Inside the vehicle, officers found additional THC cartridges, a plastic bag containing an off-white substance that later tested positive for methamphetamine, and another 30-round magazine for the handgun.

The driver was identified and transported to the McLennan County Jail for evading arrest with a vehicle, evading arrest on foot, unlawfully carrying a weapon, possession of THC, possession of methamphetamine, and possession of marijuana. He was also cited for lack of a driver's license and named in the TJJD case.
