Texas teen found in truck covered in dried blood at crash scene

An “uncooperative” Texas teenager found covered in dried blood inside his crashed pickup truck reportedly refused to help law enforcement piece together what happened.

Aaron Richard, 18, was found inside his white 1997 Chevrolet single-cab pickup truck by Tarrant County Sheriff's Office deputies early Monday morning after responding to a “major crash” on Interstate 20 in Fort Worth, Texas, according to a statement on Facebook.

Upon arriving at the scene, police noticed “a large quantity of dried blood on the van and on the suspect.”

Richard was “uncooperative when asked about the source of the blood” and refused to assist in their investigation,” the sheriff's office said in the release. “There is visible damage on the driver's side door, tailgate and left front quarter panel.”

Deputies also noticed “a large amount of blood along the driver's side A-frame, as well as on the outside of the bed.”

Authorities suspect the blood found on Richard and his truck did not belong to him and was not the result of the accident, according to the Fort Worth Star-Telegram.

The 18-year-old was arrested at the scene for drunk driving and booked into the Lon Evans Correctional Center.

The sheriff's office did not say whether investigators believed anyone was in danger or had been killed.

Officials also have not yet revealed what may have led Richard to crash the truck or whether the teen needed medical attention after the crash.

He was released on $500 bail Monday evening, according to arrest records.

Richard is currently serving a six-month probation sentence for a disorderly conduct charge in Haltom City, about five miles from Forth Worth, according to the Fort Worth Star-Telegram.

Law enforcement is asking the public to come forward with any information they have that could shed light on what happened and why Richard and his truck were covered in blood.

The Post has contacted the Tarrant County Sheriff's Office for comment.
