Police officers in Fort Worth, Texas, had a sweet reunion with a toddler they saved from drowning earlier this month — and the young boy was all smiles as he saw his heroes.

On May 1, Officer Davachi and Sergeant Brady of the Fort Worth Police Department (FWPD) came to the rescue of a 2-year-old boy named Rowdy who nearly drowned in a swimming pool. When officers arrived on scene, the boy's mother was performing CPR. Officers “immediately took over chest compressions while Sergeant Brady assisted with mouth-to-mouth resuscitation,” according to an FWPD news release.

After Fort Worth firefighters arrived a short time later and transported the boy to a local hospital, his prognosis was described “as grim, with little hope of survival through the night,” the release said.
