Texas man charged with using AI to remove teenage girl's clothes from photo

CONROE, TX – The Montgomery County Precinct 3 Constable's Office has arrested a 30-year-old Texas man for possession of child pornography.

The investigation began on May 15, 2024, when Constable Ryan Gable's Human Trafficking Unit launched an investigation involving the suspect identified as Roman Shoffner.

According to the police department's information, Shoffner used an artificial intelligence program on his phone to alter a photo of a 17-year-old woman by removing her clothes.

After the photo was edited, the image now showed the 17-year-old's face, but her body was completely naked from neck to toe, according to reports.

Shoffner's phone was seized and forensically analyzed.

During the investigation, 3rd Division detectives obtained sufficient probable cause to believe that Shoffner created the photo of the 17-year-old female with the intent to possess child pornography.

An arrest warrant has been filed for Shoffner.

On June 28, 2024, Shoffner was located by law enforcement and arrested.

“Constable Gable's detectives remain committed to tracking down those who would choose to harm and exploit our children,” the report said.
