Texas-born Fabian Hurzeler is the 'next Julian Nagelsmann', who had a 'great career' predicted as a teenager by the Liverpool cult hero.

Fabian Hurzeler is one of the next young prodigies in the coaching world and he could now be heading to the Premier League.

talkSPORT understands the 31-year-old is a leading candidate to replace Roberto De Zerbi as Brighton manager this summer.

He guided 2. Bundesliga side St. Pauli to glory last season after a 13-year wait, securing them promotion to Germany's top flight as title winners.

In doing so, Hurzeler is set to become the youngest manager in one of Europe's top five leagues, but his future could now lie in England.

He spent his entire playing and managerial career in Germany, but interestingly he was born in Texas, USA.

The Houston-born coach moved to his mother's home country when he was a teenager and began his playing career on Bayern Munich's youth teams.

It was there that his future success as a manager was predicted by a possible Liverpool cult hero – while he was still a teenager.

Former Reds star Emre Can played alongside Hurzeler at Bayern's academy and he reportedly predicted a “great coaching career” for his young teammate.

And it seems Can was right, with the St. Pauli manager's reputation growing rapidly.

Due to his success as a young manager in Germany, Hurzeler has been compared to current national team coach Julian Nagelsmann.

Nagelsmann – five years Hurzeler's senior – holds the record as the youngest manager in Bundesliga history and went on to take charge of Bayern Munich and will now lead his country to Euro 2024.

If Hurzeler is named Brighton boss, he will become the youngest boss in the Premier League, following in the 36-year-old's footsteps.

But he doesn't want to be compared to the German and instead wants to create his own special journey.

He said earlier this year: “It wouldn't be fair to him [to be compared] because he is an extraordinary coach.

“Of course I always hear these comparisons with Julian Nagelsmann. But like I said, I have to stay humble and follow my own path.

“I can't do it the same way because it's the way of Julian Nagelsmann, and I'm trying to follow the way of Fabian Hürzeler.”

The 'Hurzeler way' was inspired by his time at Bayern Munich and he referenced the Bavarians when talking about his style of play.

“My time there created my personality, because I have to be honest, I was there I think for 10 to 11 years,” Hurzeler said.

“The interesting thing is that you not only have to be successful, but you have to play a certain way and you have to play a really good style of football.

“It’s what creates my personality and my thinking about my style of play.”

Brighton could therefore be set for an exciting date, bringing the essence of Bayern to the Amex Stadium next season.

Hurzeler is one of the leading candidates to become Seagulls manager, but Malmö's Henrik Rydstrom is also on the club's shortlist.
