Texas authorities identify 2 people arrested in drug bust and charged with human trafficking

WILLIAMSON COUNTY, Texas (KXAN) — A total of five people were arrested last week after a drug bust in Taylor, according to the Williamson County Sheriff's Office. During the investigation, an additional charge of child sex trafficking was added.

On June 12, WCSO executed a search warrant in the 400 block of East Rio Grande Street in Taylor, which resulted in the arrest of all five individuals for possession of a controlled substance, specifically methamphetamine , the agency said in a press release Wednesday. .

The first suspect identified, Edward Tito Garza, has a “history of violent and drug-related offenses” that includes a 1992 murder conviction, multiple arrests for evading arrest, without identifying himself as a fugitive and various drug-related charges, according to WCSO. Additionally, Garza was charged with child sex trafficking. The second person, Claudia Gaspar, was arrested and charged with human trafficking.

Garza's total bail was set at $600,000 and Gaspar's at $75,000, according to WCSO.

While a total of five people were arrested, only Garza and Gaspar were identified by authorities.
