Texarkana man sentenced to 120 months probation in Lafayette County hit-and-run

STAMPS, Ark. – A Texarkana man was sentenced to 120 months of probation in a March 2023 hit-and-run on U.S. 82 in Lafayette County.

Brandon Glenn Lane, 51, entered a plea bargain in the Eighth Judicial District South on April 5, according to court records. Lane was charged with leaving the scene of an accident with serious injury or death, according to court records.

Lane was represented by attorney Matt Keil, according to court documents. Assistant Prosecutor Robert Freeze prosecuted the case on behalf of the state.

Joseph Curtis Miller, 85, of Springhill, Louisiana, was visiting family in Arkansas when he was struck and killed while walking in the eastbound lane of the highway around 5:56 a.m. March 9, 2023.

Authorities suspected at the time that Miller had been struck by a silver Toyota RAV4 heading east.

There were no arrests in this case until December 7, 2023, when crucial information was provided to investigators. An ASP media advisory included a photo of the suspect's vehicle, which investigators believe had significant damage based on evidence found at the scene.

Lane was also fined $1,000 and ordered to pay restitution.

Failure to stop after an accident resulting in serious bodily injury or death is a Class B felony in Arkansas, punishable by at least five years and not more than 20 years in prison.
