Tennessee parents, children arrested after fight at kindergarten graduation

Footage was captured and shared on social media of at least ten adults and children fighting at a preschool graduation in Tennessee. The incident took place earlier this month.

Graduation turned chaotic after two women attending a kindergarten graduation at Buckley Carpenter Elementary School in Somerville exchanged blows in the crowd, according to WHBQ.

The two adult women involved in the dispute have been identified as Kierra Smith and Tyeisha Humphreys. They could be seen fighting on the gymnasium bleachers. Others present tried to move away from the conflict.

“I became hysterical. The police called the ambulance.

But that wasn't the only fight that took place at graduation. Two other people could be seen exchanging blows on the basketball court.

When authorities finally intervened, Humphreys insisted Smith started the altercation while Smith said Humphreys was responsible.

The New York Post reported that security footage obtained by police showed Humphreys entering the gym and sitting directly behind Smith. A short time later, Smith can be seen moving to another seat, near a boy and his father.

Authorities said Smith and the child eventually got into an argument, prompting Humphreys to run into the stands and hit Smith from behind.

Humphreys' mother, Rhonda Humphreys, insisted she was wrongly arrested after seeing her son elbowed in the head by an adult during the melee.

“It’s really embarrassing for the county. I hope the law can get to the bottom of this and I can clear my name and find out what really happened to my son because the board won't let me watch the video,” Humphreys said.

“I became hysterical. The police called the ambulance. They said he had a concussion and released him.”

Dantavious Gilchrease, along with his mother and daughter, Rhonda and Tyeisha Humphreys, were arrested after graduation. It is unclear what the relationship is between the man and the two women.

Gilchrease was arrested outside of school for allegedly telling Rhonda he would “shoot her in the face.”

Tyeisha was charged with violating a protection order, inciting a riot and three counts of simple assault, according to reports.

Several children have also been charged in the conflict.

Earlier this month, a fight broke out at a Tennessee high school graduation after a student allegedly threw gang signs in the direction of another student.

As a result of the fight, everyone involved in the conflict at the high school received a juvenile summons or misdemeanor citation and was quickly released to their parents.
