  • Eight boys and two girls saved to buy a school bus that will transform it into a camper van
  • The group plans to make the trip after graduating from high school in a month.

A group of enterprising teenagers purchased a school bus and began converting the vehicle into a camper van to travel the country on a one-of-a-kind journey.

The eight boys and two girls shared their journey of transforming the coach into a decorated habitable vehicle on their Instagram page, boys.with.the.bus, ahead of their epic vacation across the United States.

The teens said they were planning to travel from one end of the United States to the other in their swanky new bus – which they all said they bought with their savings.

Documenting their impressive feat, the group first showed off their renderings before diving into the restoration: redoing the flooring, adding electrical circuits, painting the exteriors a bright blue color, and installing bunk beds.

So far, the kids have amassed two million followers on Instagram.

One of the teens, Sebastian, poses with the newly painted vehicle. The teens said they planned to travel from one end of the United States to the other in their swanky new vehicle – which they all said they bought with their savings.

They began the journey by gutting the school bus from the inside out – removing the conventional seats to reveal the blank canvas where they will live for the summer.

Day by day, the group of buddies made progress building the interior to ensure it was livable for their West Coast and East Coast getaway.

In one of the videos, two of the high school students, Matty and Brady, were seen working on the ceiling slats, while their friends Kevin and Justin built wooden cabinets.

In the same sequence, Charlie and Thatcher were tasked with spray painting the roof terrace supports while Ben worked on plans to build a kitchen.

Other videos show another of the boys, Sebastian, sanding, pressure washing and repainting the bus a bright blue color after letting their supporters choose the shade.

Teenagers Katherine and Ainsley, who also have a separate Instagram account called @girls.with.the.bus, also helped build the beds and install the chairs.

Dressed in appropriate DIY attire, other members of the enterprising gang connected electrical panels to the batteries so the bus would be powered during their journey.

Each with their own job, some teens were seen caulking floorboards, attaching solar panels to the roof and rustproofing the exterior during a grueling 17-hour workday.

So far, the teens are two weeks into their epic renovation – with a long way to go before the school bus is ready to begin its summer journey across several states.

Viewers sent encouraging messages to the group of friends, with many hoping they would have done the same after graduating high school.

One user on one video wrote: “This has to be the best idea to do after graduation.”

While another asked: “Interview your parents, I want to know what they think!” A third added: “I don't think people realize how incredibly impressive this is.”

And another wrote: “Wishing you the best summer ever with the boys! This is going to be an epic sendoff before everyone leaves for college. Keep up the good work guys! »

Some viewers also made suggestions for improving and protecting the bus.

One supporter wrote: “Guys, make sure you cover the panels on the front of the bus to improve aerodynamics. Leaving them uncovered will make the ride noisy and will also increase fuel consumption a bit. Good luck!'

While another said: “Add a wind deflector so the solar panels aren't directly hit by the air if you're worried about that.”

The group has filmed more than 15 videos of the process and plans to go on a trip soon after graduation.
