Temperatures near 100 degrees, heat advisory in effect

MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WBTW) – The Grand Strand will see temperatures similar to July 4th, between 27 and 32 degrees. Beaches are excluded from today’s heat advisory, but everywhere else is below. Inland temperatures will range from 37 to 38 degrees and with the humidity, it will feel like 42 to 43 degrees. Take precautions against the heat: have a way to stay cool and hydrated.

As we head into a long weekend, we will see mostly sunny to partly sunny skies today. An isolated storm is possible inland. This will be one of the hottest days of the year. Not much relief from the heat and humidity tonight with low temperatures in the 20s to 25s.

A cold front will attempt to move through the area over the weekend. This will give us a better chance of seeing showers and thunderstorms. There is more rain in the Pee Dee, especially on Saturday, but afternoon thunderstorms are still expected for the rest of the weekend and into the work week.

We desperately need rain, not only will it provide temporary relief from the heat, but it will also help combat the severe drought in the Pee Dee. Temperatures will remain hot and humid through the weekend. Typical July heat, with highs of 90 to 95 degrees inland, near 90 degrees on the coast.
