Teens arrested in Jonesville vehicle burglaries

NEWBERRY, Fla. – Marcoles Williams, Jr., 18, and Brandon J. Debose, Jr., 14, of Newberry, were arrested early this morning and charged with vehicle burglaries in the Connemara neighborhood of Jonesville.

Around 6 a.m. Sunday, Alachua County Sheriff's deputies responded to the 14500 block of W. Newberry Road after receiving calls about three individuals pulling on door handles and breaking into rooms. vehicles in the Connemara district. Officers established a perimeter and observed two men walking eastbound on Newberry Road, wearing dark clothing and hooded sweatshirts. As the two men approached a gas station located at 14300 W. Newberry Road, an officer made contact with them and arrested them.

The two men were identified as Williams and Debose; Williams allegedly carried a concealed firearm.

After Miranda, both subjects denied burglarizing vehicles or being in the Connemara area.

Two victims identified Williams as one of the people involved in the burglaries, but they could not identify Debose. However, officers used neighborhood surveillance video to identify Debose as one of the suspects. Both suspects are believed to live at the Brookside Apartments in Jonesville.

Four of the vehicle owners decided to file a complaint against the suspects. two other vehicle owners decided not to file a complaint.

Williams was charged with four counts of armed burglary of a vehicle, possession of a firearm by an adjudicated offender (a person between the ages of 18 and 24 who has been convicted of a charge that would constitute a crime for an adult) and conspiracy to commit burglary. . Williams has two convictions for juvenile offenses.

Debose was charged as a juvenile with four counts of burglary of an unoccupied vehicle and conspiracy to commit burglary.

Bail will be set Monday morning.
