Teenagers arrested by Lee County Sheriff's Office

SANFORD, N.C. (WNCN) — Three teenagers were arrested after Lee County deputies stopped a car and found a stolen gun and drugs this week.

The incident occurred Tuesday when Lee County Sheriff's Office narcotics officers stopped a car along Woodland Avenue near Harkey Road in Sanford, according to a news release from the Lee County Sheriff's Office.

After the car was stopped, it was searched and officers said they found a stolen gun, hydrocodone and marijuana vape cartridges inside the vehicle.

Ayomide Walter Adekunle Adesanya and Kenneth Cecil Currie III, both 18, and a 17-year-old were the three people inside the car, deputies said.

The 17-year-old juvenile was charged with assault on a law enforcement officer, possession with intent to sell and deliver marijuana, and possession of a Schedule II controlled substance.

Adesanya was arrested and charged with possession of a stolen firearm, possession with intent to sell and deliver marijuana, possession of marijuana paraphernalia and carrying a concealed weapon, the press release said.

Currie was arrested and charged with possession with intent to sell and deliver marijuana and possession of marijuana paraphernalia, deputies said.

Adesanya was being held on a $10,000 secured bond, while Currie was being held on a $5,000 secured bond.
