Teenagers arrested after fight in Scarborough

Three teenagers have been charged after the incident in Scarborough on Wednesday,

Scarborough officers say they were called to an incident near Dean Road on Wednesday, where there were reports of youths getting into a fight, potentially with a hammer.

Scarborough police say:

“We are aware that many residents may have been affected, whether by visits made during the police investigation, or by those who witnessed the incident.

When police arrived around 1:30 p.m., the youths fled from police, triggering foot chases and area searches.

Those involved were quickly rounded up and arrested.

We spoke to witnesses and obtained CCTV cameras. An area of ​​William Street Coach Park was also cordoned off until the evening while crime scene examiners gathered evidence.

We would like to thank the public who contributed to this investigation and we want to reassure our residents that this is a dispute within a group and that there are no further concerns in the wider neighborhood. »

A 15-year-old Scarborough boy has been charged with possessing an offensive weapon in a public place. A 16-year-old Scarborough boy has been charged with engaging in threatening behavior with intent to cause fear or unlawful violence and possession of cannabis. A third boy, aged 16, from Scarborough, was charged with using threatening behavior with intent to cause fear or unlawful violence.

All were charged and summoned to Scarborough Youth Court on Tuesday, July 9, 2024.
