Teenager threatened by toothless knifeman behind Tesco in Cirencester

An investigation has been launched after a teenager was threatened by a man armed with a knife in Cirencester. Gloucestershire Police received reports that a 16-year-old boy was threatened by a man in Cricklade Road at around 8.30pm on Sunday June 2.

The victim told police he was fishing in the river behind Tesco when he was approached by the man who threatened him with a knife. The boy was shaken, but was not physically harmed by what happened.




The man involved was described as a white man in his 40s, with a scruffy appearance and no teeth. He wore a black baseball cap and had a bicycle, a fishing rod and a yellow-tipped reel.

Gloucestershire Police are now appealing for witnesses. Anyone who saw the incident or has dashcam or CCTV footage from the area has been asked to contact officers.

The force said in a statement: “Officers in Cirencester are appealing for witnesses after a teenager was threatened by a man with a knife last week. Police were called to reports of a 16-year-old boy was threatened by a man with a knife while he was on Cricklade Road at around 8.30pm on Sunday 2 June.

“The victim said she was fishing in the river behind Tesco when she was approached by the man who then made threats while holding a knife. The victim was not physically harmed but was shaken by what happened.

“The offender was described as a white man in his 40s and of a scruffy appearance. He had no teeth and was wearing a black baseball cap. He was in possession of a bicycle and had a fishing rod and reel with a yellow tip.
