Teenager stabbed over 100 times by boyfriend for not bringing him a glass of water

A woman survived a brutal attack by playing dead after her boyfriend stabbed her repeatedly because she didn't bring him a glass of water.

The unnamed 19-year-old was stabbed more than 100 times in front of her two-year-old son by Jamiv Usman in the brutal attack.

Usman stabbed his girlfriend with such force in the neck that he broke the knife blade during the Brighton incident in March 2015.

The woman played dead after the attack before managing to board a bus while police treated her injuries.

She was then rushed to hospital by paramedics but survived her injuries, but suffered two punctured lungs and required 500 stitches.

Her son was found in distress by a neighbor.

Weapon: The knife was found thrown in a hedge (SWNS)

The knife used in the attack was found abandoned in a hedge near the victim's home and Usman was spotted later that day and charged with attempted murder.

Usman denied the charges but has now been found guilty following a trial at Lewes Crown Court.

Detective Inspector Andy Wolstenholme of Sussex Police described the victim as an “inspiration”.

He said: “This was a horrific, unprovoked attack on the victim who was left fighting for his life in front of his child who was only two years old. It's a miracle she survived.

“The last 16 months have been very difficult for her, but she slowly recovered and showed great courage at the time of the attack, while giving evidence at the trial. »

Usman was sentenced to 20 years in prison.
