Police responded to reports of a large fight on the 1000 block of the Parkway Saturday shortly after 9 p.m.

This incident was the second to occur on the boardwalk over the holiday weekend.

Friday, around 10 p.m., the police intervened following a fight on the promenade.

During that altercation, police said a large crowd of teenagers surrounded the fight. The police finally managed to disperse it and arrest several people.

“Ocean City will always be welcoming to all guests, but I want to send a clear message to parents and teens: 'If you don't want to behave properly, don't come,'” said Ocean City Mayor Jay Gillian , in a press release.

Anyone with information that could further assist the investigation can contact the OCPD Detective Bureau at (609) 525-9129.

In Ocean City, there is an 8 p.m. curfew on the beach, an 8 p.m. backpack ban, and an 11 p.m. curfew on the boardwalk for anyone under 18, but both Incidents occurred before curfew.

Ocean City Mayor Jay Gillian released the following statement regarding the incidents on the boardwalk:

As in recent years and in other coastal towns, Ocean City has experienced a number of problems related to large crowds of teenagers on the boardwalk, fights, shoplifting and disorderly behavior at the start of Memorial Day weekend.

I understand the impact this behavior has on all of our residents, guests and business owners, and I want to assure everyone that Ocean City will not tolerate it.

Our officers made several arrests last night and were able to quickly restore order on the boardwalk once the teens involved in these incidents were removed. We have a team of highly trained officers on the Parkway and throughout the city, and they will enforce all laws in their entirety.

Ocean City will always be welcoming to all guests, but I want to send a clear message to parents and teens: “If you don't want to behave, don't come.” »

After a weekend of unrest in Wildwood, New Jersey, police declared a state of emergency early Monday morning and closed the boardwalk in protest to residents and visitors, then called it off around 6 a.m. Morning.
