Teenager stabbed, chaos erupts on Ocean City boardwalk

Ocean City police are investigating the shooting of a teenager Saturday night on the boardwalk.

The incident was part of the chaos caught on camera during a second night of trouble involving teenagers as crowds packed the resort for the holiday weekend known as the kickoff to the summer season on the Coast.

“There were just big groups of kids like this running around, and then big stampedes of teenagers would start running towards where the next fight would be,” one mother told BreakingAC.

She asked not to be identified.

Police were called to the 1000 block of Parkway for a fight around 9:12 p.m., said Sgt. Dan Lancaster said in a press release.

A 15-year-old boy was stabbed during the altercation, Lancaster said.

The victim, whose name was not released due to his age, was treated at the scene by the Ocean City Fire Department and then taken to the AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center Municipal Campus for treatment. His injuries are not life-threatening.

The suspect is not known at this time.

A video posted to TikTok shows a crowd running from the boardwalk.

But this fight was not the only issue Saturday night.

Video shows police arresting what appear to be teenage girls. It was not immediately clear whether anyone had been charged.

Police have taken at least two people into custody. It was unclear whether any charges had been filed.

All the action seemed to be happening around 10th Street, said the mother who spoke to BreakingAC.

She said there had been unconfirmed reports of gunfire, “and stores started being closed.”

The mother grabbed her daughter and her friend and left. The “heavy police presence and teenagers everywhere” made it difficult to get out, she said.

The incident comes a day after police responded to a fight on the boardwalk involving two young girls.

A large crowd of minors surrounded the fight, which took place around 10 p.m., the daily OCNJ previously reported.

The police dispersed the group and several teenagers were arrested and returned to their parents.

No injuries were reported and no charges were filed. No weapons were involved in the incident, police said.

The city cracked down on rowdy teens in 2023 by closing beaches at 8 p.m., closing Boardwalk restrooms at 10 p.m., and imposing an 11 p.m. curfew on minors on Ocean City streets and on the boardwalk.

Anyone with information about the stabbing is asked to call the detective bureau at 609-525-9129.
