(KRON) — An 18-year-old victim of a shooting last week in Hayward was taken off life support and pronounced dead Wednesday, the Hayward Police Department said. The 18-year-old was one of two teens shot Thursday, June 27.

Officers responded to the shooting near Mission Boulevard and Industrial Parkway around 11:11 p.m. and located the victims moments later near the 100 block of West Tennyson Road. The victims, police said, fled the scene of the shooting and called 911.

The first victim, a 17-year-old from Pleasanton, was treated for gunshot wounds and released. The second victim, an 18-year-old, also from Pleasanton, suffered serious injuries from gunshot wounds.

He was taken to hospital and put on life support. He remained on life support until July 3. He was pronounced dead. The incident, police said, is being investigated as a homicide.

No suspects are currently in custody, police said. Evidence suggests the shooting was not a random act of violence, police said. Investigators are also looking into whether the shooting is connected to another shooting that occurred on June 26.

Police describe the investigation as ongoing.
