Teenager shot dead outside convenience store in North Nashville, Tennessee

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – Police are investigating after a teenager was shot outside a North Nashville convenience store Tuesday evening.

According to authorities, the shooting happened shortly before 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, May 28 at a convenience store located on the corner of 25th Avenue North and Clifton Avenue.

Authorities said a preliminary investigation indicates the 19-year-old man entered the store with a handgun in his pocket. Inside the store, the suspect – who has not been identified – grabbed the teen's gun.

According to MNPD, the suspect brandished his own gun and pointed both guns at the teen.

The 19-year-old man left the store and was followed by the suspect who allegedly shot him outside, hitting him twice.

Authorities said the 19-year-old was taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center to be treated for non-life-threatening injuries. Meanwhile, the suspect fled the scene.

An investigation into the incident is still ongoing. No further information was immediately released.
