Teenager shot dead in southeast Washington

No suspicious information has been released.

WASHINGTON — Police are investigating after a teenager was shot and killed in Southeast D.C. Friday night.

According to the Metropolitan Police Department, the shooting happened shortly before 9 p.m. in the 5100 block of Southern Avenue Southeast.

When police arrived, they found a teenage girl suffering from a gunshot wound. Very little is known about her condition at this time, but police confirmed she was conscious and breathing when help arrived.

No suspect information has been released and it is unclear what may have happened in the moments leading up to the shooting.
