Teenager shot and killed on West College Avenue in Jacksonville – WLDS

A teenager was shot and killed near downtown Jacksonville last night.

Just after 8 p.m. last night, Jacksonville Police responded to a report of shots fired in the 300 block of West College Avenue. When officers arrived, they located an 18-year-old man who had suffered gunshot-like injuries. Eyewitnesses reported hearing approximately 6 gunshots.

The unidentified man was transported to Jacksonville Memorial Hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries. The name of the shooting victim has been withheld pending notification of next of kin.

Police officials say a person of interest has been identified but no arrests have been made at this time. Authorities believe the shooter and the victim knew each other.
