Teenager seriously injured in head after 'vicious' attack by three men on bikes

A teenager was seriously injured in the head in a “vicious” attack after being followed by three men on bikes. The 17-year-old was attacked last night in Higher Road, Urmston.

Today, he remains hospitalized and additional police patrols have been deployed to the area. Police are appealing for anyone who was in the area last night and who may have seen anything suspicious to come forward and speak to officers.

They were called to the scene around 10pm and the 17-year-old was taken to hospital with a cut to the side of his head.

In a statement, Greater Manchester Police said: “After carrying out initial inquiries, detectives established that the victim was involved in an altercation at a pub in Stretford Road. The victim was then followed near Higher Road Park by approximately three men on bicycles who chased him. him and cut the side of his head. The 17-year-old victim remains hospitalized for treatment for his injuries, which are considered serious but not life-threatening.

Detective Chief Inspector Nicola Walton, from GMP's Trafford district, said: “This is a brutal attack on a 17-year-old boy who suffered a nasty injury to the side of his head. Fortunately the injuries are not even more serious.

“We understand that the local community will be shocked by this news but, based on initial investigations, we believe this is a targeted incident posing no threat to the wider community.

“As a result, we will continue to provide a visible presence in the area in the form of foot and vehicle patrols while detectives investigate an in-depth timeline of events leading up to this incident.

“So far, we are exploring a few promising lines of inquiry and are seeking any information you may have. Were you in the area and saw something suspicious last night on Higher Road in Urmston? I am particularly keen to obtain any cell phone or dashcam footage anyone has of the incident or its immediate aftermath.
