Teenager 'screamed in pain' during double shooting in Ladbroke Grove

A boy “screamed in pain” after being shot in the leg alongside another teenager in west London.

Armed police rushed to the scene after a 15-year-old and a 16-year-old were shot dead in Verity Close, Ladbroke Grove, at around 11.40pm on Monday.

They were taken to hospital with gunshot wounds that were later declared non-life threatening, and no arrests have yet been made.

One resident said he was woken by four gunshots ringing out in the quiet residential cul-de-sac near Notting Hill.

He said The Independent:”I heard the gunshots and went outside to see. I heard the boy yell, 'I've been hit by a bullet.' It sounded like he'd been shot in the leg.

“The neighbours then went out. Passers-by called the police as they were passing by when it happened.

“Then the police and ambulances arrived. I didn't see anyone fleeing the scene.”

“There was also a helicopter above. It was very impressive.”

Detectives remained at the scene Tuesday morning to collect evidence as part of the investigation.

A Metropolitan Police spokesman said Scotland Yard's Trident unit, which investigates gun crime, was leading the investigation.

He added: “Officers, including firearms officers, attended the scene and found two boys – aged 15 and 16 – with gunshot wounds. They were taken to hospital by London Ambulance Service. Their injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.”

“Trident detectives are leading the investigation and working closely with their colleagues from the Central West Command Unit who are monitoring Kensington.

“The crime scene remains in place. At this early stage, no arrests have been made and the investigation is ongoing.”
