Teenager missing for nearly two months found safe in Florida, police say

MIAMI, FL — A 17-year-old boy who went missing in Michigan in May was recently found safe in Miami after appearing on a livestream, according to reports.

Flint County police confirmed Thursday that Troy Coleman, missing since May 17, has been found in Miami.

“The Flint Township Police Department would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to everyone who has shared information about Troy Coleman’s disappearance. He has been located safely in Miami, Florida and we are working with local authorities to arrange for his safe return to Michigan to be with his family,” police said in a Facebook post.

Coleman disappeared from her Flint Township home and may have boarded a Metropolitan Transportation Authority bus, according to a May 21 Facebook post from Missing People in America.

“His friends and family have not heard from him and are increasingly concerned,” MPIA said at the time.

Coleman was found this week after his brother spotted him on a Clix and Lacy livestream, according to the nonprofit A Voice for the Voiceless, which shares information about missing persons cases. The platform the stream originated from is unknown.

The organization shared what appears to be a portion of the livestream on Wednesday and claims that Coleman's family assumed he was dead, a notion also claimed in a tweet from Clix and Lacy's Faze Lacy.

Lacy shared what appears to be a message Wednesday from someone claiming to be Coleman's older brother, who claimed that “the Coleman case was filed as a homicide in Michigan.”

According to the tweet, the brother said Coleman was seen in the video wearing green shorts.

“Yesterday on stream (Coleman) came up to me and Clix and now his family knows he’s alive and in Miami,” Lacy tweeted.

On Thursday, Lacy said he was able to contact Coleman's brother and informed him of the hotel where Coleman was staying.

“He was found and placed in a holding cell in Miami until he can be transferred to Michigan with his family. The power of the internet is crazy, thanks guys,” Lacy tweeted.
