Teenager kills 10-year-old brother, then himself in Troup County, sheriff's office says

A 15-year-old boy is in critical condition and a 10-year-old boy was injured in a Tuesday night shooting involving two young siblings in Troup County, according to the Troup County Sheriff's Office.

The sheriff's office said deputies responded to a home in the 1600 block of Bartley Road in LaGrange at 10:41 p.m. Tuesday on a report that a man and woman had been shot.

Emergency responders found a 15-year-old man and a 10-year-old woman, each suffering from a gunshot wound, according to a news release.

The sheriff's office said life-saving measures were performed for both individuals and they were taken to Wellstar West Georgia Emergency Department.

The investigation revealed that the man shot the woman with a handgun, according to the release. The sheriff's office said the reason for the shooting was unknown.

The man then committed suicide, according to the release.

The sheriff's office confirmed that the two individuals were siblings.

The man is currently in critical condition and the female victim was transported to an Atlanta area hospital for treatment, according to the sheriff's office.

The sheriff's office said the investigation is ongoing.
