Teenager killed, three others injured in Triangle shooting | Securities

Police have arrested a 17-year-old boy in connection with a quadruple shooting Monday night in Triangle that left a 15-year-old boy dead.

Detectives on Tuesday charged the suspect, a Triangle resident, with murder, three counts of aggravated intentional injury, one count of attempted aggravated intentional injury and use of a firearm during a felony, Prince William County Police Senior Officer Renee Carr said in a news release. . His name has not been released because he is a minor.

Police were called to the 3700 block of Masthead Trail at 10:30 p.m. and shots rang out during a gathering at the rear of the townhouses. The people involved fled when the police arrived on scene.

Officers from Prince William County and the Town of Dumfries initially located and provided first aid to two of the gunshot wound victims.

Fire and Rescue took both men to an area hospital where one of the victims, a 15-year-old Triangle boy, later died from his injuries, Carr said.

While checking the area, a second teen was located nearby suffering from a graze wound and was treated at the hospital, Carr said.

As police investigated, additional information was received regarding a fourth victim, another adult male, who had been taken to an area hospital suffering from gunshot wounds.

The two adult victims, aged 18 and 20, as well as the second minor victim, aged 16, are expected to survive. All come from Triangle.

Police said the suspect shot at a group of four teenagers and young men, injuring four of them, following a “previous altercation” and an ongoing argument.

Detectives are still working to identify other possible suspects.

Neighbor Shaun Peet told WTOP News he noticed a gathering behind a house Monday evening and at first it seemed like everyone was having a good time. That's when an argument broke out, followed by gunshots.

“I looked at my wife and said I didn't think it was fireworks, and we both said 'gunshots' at the same time,” Peet told the station. radio.

After calling 911, Peet said he and his wife walked toward the sound of someone calling for help and found a juvenile in the grass.

“He was lying facing the grass. Shout for help ! Help me! Help me! I don’t want to die,” Peet said.

Peet said he and others in the neighborhood began tending to the person.

“My thing was to keep them breathing until the paramedics came,” Peet said.

Peet, who is also a member of Dumfries Town Council, said he was told the injured person he was staying with had survived. But Peet, father of two 15-year-old twins, said he was saddened by the loss of one of the teenagers.

“My thoughts are with the family of the 15-year-old,” he said.

Virginia law prohibits law enforcement from releasing the victim's name because of her age. His death marks the ninth homicide of the year in Prince William County. There were 24 homicides in the county in 2023.
