Teenager killed after being hit by bus as police appeal for dashcam footage



A teenager has been killed after being hit by a bus – as police appeal for motorists to provide dashcam footage of the incident.

Bedfordshire Police said they were called at around 12pm on Thursday following reports of a collision between a pedestrian and a bus.

Emergency services attended the A600 High Road in Shortstown, near Bedford, but the teenager was pronounced dead at the scene. His next of kin are being treated by specialist officers.

Roads remain closed and witnesses or anyone with information has been asked to contact police.

A police spokesman said: “Emergency services attended but the pedestrian, a teenage boy, was pronounced dead at the scene.

“His relatives have been informed and are receiving support from specialist agents.

Detective Sergeant Craig Wheeler of the Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire Road Policing Unit said: “This is an incredibly sad incident and our condolences go out to the victim’s friends and family.

“We are appealing for anyone who witnessed the collision or the events leading up to it to contact us. We would be particularly interested in hearing from anyone who may have dashcam footage.”
