Teenager in danger of death after being hit by train in Bowness

A teenager is in life-threatening condition after being struck by a train in the Bowness neighborhood of northwest Calgary.

Around 1:20 p.m., police were called to a railroad track east of 85th Street NW near the bridge for reports of a teenager being struck by a CP Rail train, the police department said of Calgary in a press release to Postmedia.

Fire crews were called to the scene in case extrication was necessary; however, they were not necessary, said Carol Henke, public information officer for the Calgary Fire Department.

Three teenagers were on the railway bridge when the incident occurred, Henke said.

A teenager was taken to hospital in serious condition with his life in danger.

Police said the investigation was ongoing and anyone with information about the incident should contact police.
