Shields' defense team, consisting of Judit Otvos and Lauren Dollar, argued during the trial before Judge Robert K. However, the prosecution presented evidence that Shield's DNA was most likely present on the alleged murder weapon, a Polymer80 ghost gun, which Baltimore Police Department officers found in his car a few days later. late.
