Teenager fatally stabbed in chest after fight in Herriman, police say

HERRIMAN— A 16-year-old died after being stabbed in a car Wednesday afternoon, Herriman police said.

Herriman Deputy Police Chief Cody Stromberg told KSL the stabbing happened on Beckenbauer Drive after an altercation on the road.

Stromberg said the teen was stabbed in the chest and first aid was provided, but the teen died from his injuries.

Police believe the stabbing is connected to Valley High School's graduation, and several juveniles are being questioned in connection with it. Stromberg said another vehicle believed to be involved was found at a home in Riverton.

Stromberg confirmed investigators are treating the case as a homicide. He said the investigation could take several hours before more information is released.

Stromberg said this is Herriman's first murder investigation since 2012.
