Teenager dies after car crash Sunday in Texas County

GUYMON, Okla. (KAMR/KCIT) — Guymon officials report a fatal collision occurred around 10:01 p.m. Sunday on County Road D, approximately one-fourth mile east of Mile 33, at about 12 miles north of Guymon, Texas County.

Authorities say a 1998 Dodge Ram driven by a 16-year-old from Hooker, Oklahoma, was heading west “when the driver hit a pothole in the road, and it appeared he tried to dodge the pothole and swerved. to the right then overcorrected.


Officials said the Dodge Ram began sliding to the left as it left the roadway, hit a ditch, became airborne, then rolled about two and a half times. The driver was ejected about ten meters from the vehicle.

This accident was investigated by Trooper Montana Moon #212 of the Cimarron County/Texas I Troop Detachment and was assisted by Lt. Erick Brown #145, Hooker Fire Department, Hooker Emergency Services, Hooker Police Department and Texas County Sheriff's Department.
