Teenager charged with murder of 17-year-old electric cyclist who died following car crash in Grangemouth

A teenager has been charged with the murder of a 17-year-old e-bike rider who died following a crash with a car in Grangemouth.

Aaron McPherson was taken to hospital after the electric bike he was riding collided with a small white hatchback on Portal Road at around 11.45pm on May 30.

He died on Saturday at the Edinburgh Royal Infirmary.

Police confirmed on Thursday that a 17-year-old man had been arrested and charged in connection with the incident.

He is expected to appear at Falkirk Sheriff Court on Friday, June 21, charged with murder.

An 18-year-old man was also arrested in connection with the incident and has since been released pending further investigation.

Detective Chief Inspector David MacGregor said: “Our thoughts are with Aaron’s family and friends. Officers are providing support and keeping them informed as our investigation continues.

“I would like to thank those members of the public who have already come forward and would ask anyone else with information, who has not yet spoken to police, to please do so.”

Anyone with information should call Police Scotland on 101 citing incident number 4450 from Thursday May 30.
