Teenager arrested on suspicion of murder after fatal stabbing in Bedford | Daily check-in

A teenager has been arrested on suspicion of murder following a suspected fatal stabbing in a busy area of ​​Bedford, police have confirmed.

On Friday shortly before 2 p.m., emergency crews were dispatched to Riverfield Drive for reports of a man being stabbed. Bedfordshire Police confirmed a man in his 20s was pronounced dead at the scene.




An 18-year-old man was arrested and questioned after a murder investigation was launched by detectives from the Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire Major Crime Unit.

Although the deceased has not yet been officially named, officers have confirmed his relatives are receiving support.

Detective Inspector Dale Mepstead said: “We understand that incidents such as this have a significant impact on our residents. Our thoughts are first and foremost with the loved ones of the man who lost his life in such horrific circumstances.

“This incident occurred in a busy area with several people present. If you witnessed this or have video footage or images, please contact us.

“There is no place for knife crime in our society and we will continue to do all we can to combat it.”

The force is urging anyone with information to come forward via the Bedfordshire Police website or by calling 101, citing Operation Konic.
