Teenager arrested following hit-and-run with man in serious condition in hospital

A teenager has been arrested following a suspected hit-and-run in Renfrewshire.

Emergency services rushed to Thorn Brae in Johnstone after the alarm was raised at around 12.30am on Saturday.




Paramedics responded and a 34-year-old man was rushed to hospital for treatment. Doctors described his condition as “serious” and officers have already requested information.

Police have now confirmed that a 17-year-old boy has been arrested and charged in connection with the incident. He is due to appear at Paisley Sheriff Court on Monday.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “A 17-year-old boy has been arrested and charged in connection with a man being hit by a car on Thorn Brae, Johnstone, on Saturday June 8.

“He is due to appear at Paisley Sheriff Court on Monday June 10, 2024.

“Investigations are ongoing and anyone with information is asked to contact police on 101 quoting incident 0140 of June 8, 2024.”
